Apologies to both Micheal Scott and Peggy Hill, the King and Queen of the most annoying characters on television. But You may have yet met your match. I give you... Fringe's Walter Bishop.

You've seen this new show Fringe, right? From J.J. Abrams, the guy who did Alias and Lost? One of the most overhyped and underwhelming new shows on television?

Walter Bishop is a crazy mad scientist cliche who seems to have been created to do for Fringe what Jack Bristow did for Alias and John Locke did for Lost: add a seasoned older actor to chew the scenery around all of the hip young stars to give the show gravitas and "serious actor" credentials, here for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King's John Noble. Except unlike Locke or Jack, Walter isn't cool. He's annoying. And has been known to wet himself.

I cannot fathom the amount of self-delusion the writers had in creating this character. He is just so off-putting and very hard to stomach. And predictably critics seem to be falling for Noble's seemingly drugged out performance. I expect Emmy nominations for him next year. After all, the festering pustule that was Picket Fences won best series two years in a row.

Critics and Emmys seem to LOVE oddball characters especially if they are cloyingly cutesy and Walter fits the bill. He just needs to be loooooooved. Oh, and the fact that he may have commited crimes against humanity? That's just a character quirk! Something for Pacey to banter with now that he's moved up from bedding schoolteachers to Paula Cole songs.

If Fringe actually turns into a long-running series (doubtful at this point) I'm betting the writers are going to have to majorly overhaul the character or write him out altogether. As he stands now he is the most annoying new character this year.

Also a review for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward Season Two.

A note about the Heroes review. This particular review was done differently from all of my other DVD reviews. I reviewed each episode before seeing the next one so each mini-review has theories and wild guesses that may have turned out to have been completely false as the season went on. I edited the reviews for grammar and spelling after I finished it but I left the content and theories intact. We'll see how well I did! You guys let me know how you like this review.
