So apparantly Mickey Mouse and Friends, Donald Duck and Friends, Donald Duck Adventures, and Mickey Mouse Adventures have all been cancelled. I REALLY hope they get some titles to replace them because this only leaves two comic books (Uncle Scrooge and Walt Disney's Comics and Stories). I picked up the last issue of Donald Duck and Friends today along with the Halloween Donald Duck giveaway. I also picked up two issues of the new Spike miniseries Asylum and the latest issues of Teen Titans Go! and Justice League Unlimited. I got the final Starburst Edition of Farscape and plushies of Daisy Duck, Pinnochio, Ariel and Abby from Chicken Little at the Disney Store along with Big Bird from Build-a-Bear Workshop. I love my new plushies but I'm really bummed that FOUR comic book titles I read got cancelled.

I celebrated my birthday a day early to accomodate my sister and we had fun. Busy, BUSY day.

First Melissa took me to my program. The girl I like liked my haircut. I had a good group. I gave Melissa a birthday hug. As a treat Melissa took my to Burger King. I only go there once in a rare while and I'm delighted to discover I like the sandwiches at Subway better. That tickles me.

Then I went to my parents house. I waited around for a couple of hours for my sister to show up. She brought my neice and my Bill.

We had Pizza Hut and then Birthday Cake and Ice Cream. I then opened my presents. My Mom got me plushies of all Seven Dwarfs from Disney's Snow White and a plushie puffin from her trip to Canada as well as a little Elmo car and a little Big Bird Car. My sister got me a plushie Animal Alley Cat that my niece picked out and a $50 gift card to Best Buy. My Dad got me the action figure three packs of the Justice League Unlimited (Kyle Raynor/ Katma Tui/ Arkis Chummuck and Justice Lords Flash/ Justice Lords Green Lantern/ Justice Lords Martian Manhunter). I made out REALLY well and it was my best birthday in years.

I got my neice a little plushie from the Backyardians so she wouldn't feel left out. Then she and I went out on the porch to blow bubbles. She danced around while I made all kinds of bubbles. I said goodbye to my family and my Dad took me home. Then I updated my plushie list and then wrote this journal entry.

'Bout dang time. That's pretty much the last Disney Afternoon show from the classic era that needed a major release and I'm glad it's getting one. It will probably make me broke though since DuckTales 2 and Chip 'N' Dale 2 are coming out on the same day.

I really hope Disney releases the last Gargoyles soon though. I really want my collection complete. Here is the number and address for WDHV again:

Here's hoping!

Even back in the eighties the show was really retro which definately helps in keeping it fresh even today. I love the show and think it makes a perfect fit on Adult Swim.

I have heard a LOT of complaining on Toon Zone and AI that the show doesn't fit on CN ESPECIALLY AS as it isn't animated AND was originally made for Saturday morning. I've even heard comparison's with AS's loopy decision to air Saved By the Bell a couple of months ago. But to paraphrase Eric Cartman "So help me God if you EVER compare Pee-Wee to Saved By the Bell again I will kill you where you stand". Pee-Wee was one of the coolest and most creative shows to come out of the eighties period, while Saved was a trashy kidcom on the same wavelength as Small Wonder. Seriously people who compare the two need to be kicked squared in the noots. Also the show has just enough animated bits in my mind to justify it being on CN.

One quibble on AS's decision to air Pee-Wee: they have actually chopped down the theme somg quite a bit. The extended theme was one of the absolute best things about the show back in the day and it kills me that the version AS plays is so choppily editted and short. It reminds me of the short shrift Disney gave the Tale Spin theme on The Disney Afternoon in that not hearing the whole awesome theme is actually kind of painful.
