I gave it a lukewarm review myself but even I'm a little shocked by the vitriol. The worst Star Trek movie ever made? As if Generations never happened, and as if we all never LET Generations happen.

I had a bunch of complaints about the film. I gave it my bare pass grade (3 and a half stars out of five). But every single thing wrong with the film is something I think it's pretty much wrong with ALL of genre. I did not find the film as crappy comparatively to every other piece of crap fans somehow give a pass to.

And I did not check out the Rotten Tomatoes Score before writing my review, and the opinion was entirely mine. But it is yet ANOTHER demonstration that I am actually far more lenient in my reviews than my cranky reputation suggests. It does not actually take MUCH to get a pass grade from me. Maybe people ought to stop wondering why my reviews are so critical and wonder why I found a lousy movie that has most of the same lousy qualities as the rest of genre acceptable.

The answer is because I'm not actually picky. The shit I rant against is failing VERY easy and minimal standards for me. And that's not even a question.
