Congratulations to you, Matt. That is a monumental achievement. While I created Sneakers back around 1995 (back then, he was a chipmunk), my "friendship" with him was pretty distant until 2010, as I had also created a bunch of other characters during that time -- an alien named Dynamo, the ninja-like youth called Viper, and eventually Jason Deroga and the Lil' Hero Artists. The Curse of Creation story arc is my way of giving some love to Dynamo and Viper rather than letting them languish in obscurity after nearly a decade of inactivity.
But your deep friendship with Gilda is REAL, and it shows not only in the awesome epic you've crafted on your website, but it also radiates in your regular journal updates regarding the Un-Iverse. And Gilda's also a light for me as well; not just because she's cute and a badass, but for her signature phrase about changing a future once you know it's coming -- you have no idea how much that hits me as straight-up WISDOM. Jasper also reminded me of that same wisdom when we once spoke about the dangers of catastrophizing.
So yes, Matt -- celebrate this moment. Celebrate it, because it's a symbol of your resilience.

My dues are almost paid. I am currently putting to paper the last issue of the story I NEED to tell before I can start the story I WANT to tell (The Terran Wars). I've literally been waiting 40 years for this and it's not just exciting. It's frightening.
