Also reviews for the latest episodes of The Great North, and Common Side Effects.
Family Guy "Lois C.K."
The opening scene was SO funny with the marbles, and Lois' parole, the drug test, Stewie's lines, the entire show started off hilarious at once.
I love the crashed airplane bit. "I'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin'." That's how dumb those people talk.
I really love that Peter protected Lois at the end. Very rarely does the show make Peter's "redemption" actually worth forgiving him, but they did here.
I laughed at Peter's reaction to the giraffe.
The Sir Mix-A-Lot video about kneecaps at the end was SO funny. I love that they got him to voice himself.
Joe doesn't like that everyone is clapping at his routine instead of laughing. That is a pointed observation.
Love Seamus's tree parents. Their other son is a success.
Lois' first set was pretty good. Brian was right that she ought to workshop the name. And yes, Brian, that IS what you sound like.
I love Meg not knowing if Lois was using that right because she's dork too. Mila Kunis' line reading as she's laughing is sublime.
The bit with Lois, Bonnie, and Meg writing "comedy notes" suggests the writers REALLY don't like women. And yet the joke doesn't feel ENTIRELY inaccurate. In fairness they took a lot of fair shots at men too. I am not sure what to think.
Lois' disaster routine shows WHY Quagmire isn't actually funny.
I liked this week. ****.
The Great North "Silence Of The Dams Adventure"
Not sure why, but this one sort of rubbed me the wrong way.
I DID laugh at Beef saying, "I told you Honeybee, I am NOT a well man." **.
Common Side Effects "Blowfish"
Dark episode. I'm really starting to dislike Frances. Her arc has gone completely downhill.
Caputo and Harrington hate their new partners because they are both actual good cops.
Really, REALLY disturbing at points. Especially that ending. ***.
