It was a blow-out. I had expected as much. I feel weird though. Everyone else is celebrating in jubilation at the historic nature of this win. All I feel is relief. Shouldn't I be happier? I wanted this so badly. 8 years of Bush have numbed me so much that I feel as if we dodged a bullet tonight. And usually my response to something like that is to take a deep breath and thank the Lord for large favors.

I probably won't be able to fully appreciate what took place tonight until tomorrow morning. Until then, I want to thank everyone on my friends list who voted for Obama. We did it.

I didn't expect him to win by this much, but really, I think Bush killed a lot of my optimism. I should be thrilled, but like you, it's more like a relief. I'm too afraid to hope, but we need Obama to lead us now. Yeah, maybe when we wake up tomorrow, it'll be better (or at the very least, when he's sworn in in January).

The country is just so much of a mess right now. I don't envy Obama and I pray that he IS the leader we believe him to be. He is going to have to make some hard choices to fix this country and I have a bad feeling a good portion of the country isn't going to be happy about it.

The amount of enthusasm about the the whole thing was pretty exotic for me - we just don't care that much about our elections over here. A running theme throughout the news coverage was "okay, so how come we can't pull that off?"

Try having someone as bad as Bush in office for eight years. You'd go nuts too.

The celebrations were like the country had just thrown a powerful dictator out on the street. And we kinda did. I wouldn't have been surprised if Bush actually had any statues made of himself to see them toppled over.

We had Margaret Thatcher for 11 years. Beat that =P

Honestly, Obama's getting more love over here than any of our own political leaders. The only guy who can compare in mass popularity stakes is Boris Johnson (mayor of London), and we don't love him quite the same way. We love him more the way we love Homer Simpson.

Sarah Palin, though, she went down extremely badly over here. "She puts the 'alas' in 'Alaska'", as Tom Baker put it.

Yeah, well, while you guys had Thatcher we had 12 years of Reagan and Bush I. And even if we hadn't, Bush II is so horrible on the dictator scale that there really is no contest between him and Thatcher.

Oh my, some people weren't happy at all about this:

"Wow. When it flashed across the TV screen that Barrack Obama is our next president, my heart and soul was flooded with sorrow and torment. Tears started falling down my face as I sat in the living room with my unsaved husband as I felt the dread of what was to come for all those who do not know Jesus."

"I reacted the exact same way when I saw the Fox headline. Uncontrollable sobbing. I ran to the toilet dry heaving. Then I prayed for us to go home. My husband is not yet saved. We need to pray!"

I feel really bad for their unsaved husbands too. Not for quite the same reason, though.

(...is it wrong to gloat?)

Where is this from? It's both hilarious and sad.

Mmm. Mmm. Your tears of anguish sustain me.

Rapture Ready.
Or, as it's known by its detractors, Raptard Ready. And Rapture Retards.

My own spin is Ruptured Reality, but that never caught on.

Here's another gem:

"Is it just me, or did anyone else notice Obama's 333 electoral tally for a good bit on the MSM? They didn't show it forever, but nonetheless showed it for a good bit.

Does the MSM have some fascination with numerical messages? Are their evil forces doing so behind them?

The election wasn't fixed...right..."

Quite what's so bad about the number 333 is unclear. Presumably the fact that it's half of 666 is something to do with it. Is this guy saying Obama's half evil or something?

Of course he's half evil. He's half black.

Morons.

A response to Obama's call for a civilian national security force:

"The Greenshirts will soon be compassionately kicking in doors and graciously dragging intolerant Christians off to death camps...."

And elsewhere:

"America as we know it will cease to exist. He will destroy it beyond recognition. No wonder it isn't mentioned in the Bible. Obama will make it go away. I am saddened for those who died for the freedoms that Obama will take away. I am sad for my children. Did we learn nothing from Hitler? Obama is Hitler redux. I am officially John Galt and will be shrugging HARD for the next 4 years until the brownshirts come to my home and personally make me knock it off."

Godwin violations and severe paranoia. I need a lie down.

It's a pretty heavy pronouncement for a group of idiots without an ounce of proof.

Don't visit that site again. Internet hits only give those jackasses revenue.

It's one thing to give a place like RedState hits (someone has to see what those buttholes are up to) but if you go to a hate site with lots of ads the site gets paid for every time you load the page.
