A week of computer problems has had me completely off-line this week except for a couple of hours on Thursday. I did a Torchwood marathon in the past couple of days so a review of a few of the episodes should be up shortly.

And I am SO relieved John Edwards is NOT the Dem nominee. He admitted this past week he cheated on Elizabeth (who has always and still does rock) in 2006. Y'know nornally this is private stuff that is none of our business and the fact that Elizabeth has forgiven him is something that is her right and perogative. But he had some SERIOUS nerve actually running for President this year. When this had come out as an October surprise it would have handed the election to McCain just because it was so recent. I am SO glad Barack Obama is our nominee and I look forward to him kicking butt in November.

Seriously, John Edwards, you suck. You didn't just betray Elizabeth (and that is horrible in and of itself) you betrayed US by putting the entire country and election in jeopardy had you won the primary. I actually voted for the guy in the primary in 2004 and I regret that now. I have NEVER thought I would see another Dem as selfish as Bill Clinton running for office but I've been disappointed again.

Welcome back, Matt!

I didn't expect this kind of behavior out of Edwards, so I was a little surprised to hear all this. Then again, just because someone's a Democrat doesn't mean they're not also selfish.

Absolutely. Now I'm REALLY nervous about the Repugs trying to find dirt on Obama. Even if it's not true because of what Edwards did people will be more inclined to believe it.

Maybe, but so far attempts to smear Obama have been pathetic.

The media has TRIED to make it sound like they aren't though just like they said Bush won the debates with Gore and Kerry when he didn't. I just hope people don't fall for it.

Bush...win a debate?! Ha!

I know. The media sucks. That's exactly what happened and I'm afraid they're going to do it again. With the exception of David Letterman everybody was against Gore and I can't think of a single person besides Jon Stewart who was FOR Kerry.

I hope we've since learned that Gore isn't a blowhard and has some valid concerns. As for Kerry, he wasn't a particularly strong candidate. Obama's got that over him, I'd say.

Agree about Kerry but Gore was NEVER a blowhard and the media lied and said he was. It wasn't something we had to learn about him with time. At least not those of us who were paying attention.

Maybe "blowhard" was the wrong word...pretentious? Almost full of himself, maybe? You've got to admit, he has picked up a certain amount of charisma since those days.

Anyone who saw his appearances on David Letterman knows he's ALWAYS had a sense of humor and an appealing personality. This is what the media does. They create a narrative and everyone believes it even people who like the people they are smearing. Don't fall for it.

Isn't it sad when a late night talk show is the best way he can let his personality out, though?

Naw. He was great in person in other interviews too. The media just lied about it.

Unfortunately for comedy (but fortunately for the Dems) Edwards is no longer running for President and this has little or nothing to do with the actual election. But expect all the news pundits to act like it is and spend 24/7 explaining why this is bad for Obama.

But the pundits will DEFINITELY make it sound like it does. They want a horse-race. Count on it.

Yeah, this revalation really upset me. :( I mean, sure, Edwards is human, and is guaranteed to have sinned in some way, but I dunno, I guess I'd like to think that sex and politics don't absolutely go hand-in-hand...

Actually, after thinking about it, I realize that they don't, necessarily. I mean Dubya, as simple-minded as he is, I couldn't see ever having an affair. Maybe he did before he "came to Christ", but I dunno. I suppose I'm one of those people that thinks that public figures, regardless of how much in the spot-light they are, are entitled to at least some privacy. *shrug*

Yeah, Edwards let us all down. I'm less upset that he cheated on Elizabeth than I am that he had the gall to run for President anyways. We dodged a bullet.

I dunno, I kind of disagree with you there. If it weren't for this particular incident (which in my opinion, makes him truly un-electable), I think he would have made a fairly good president. :\

He would have made a FANTASTIC President. He just shouldn't have run with this story out there (and it's pretty recent too). He put the entire Democratic Party in jeopardy by gambling that this wouldn't come out after he had gotten the nomination. We can't afford another Republican Administration right now and if he had been nominated he would have handed the election to the Rethugs.

I bet the MSN is KICKING themselves over marginalizing him during the primaries.
