I am so sorry about what happened with GregX in that lj community. You didn't deserve that and it was appalling. I would have posted this in your journal but the flash ads there keep closing my browser (the same thing happens to you, dcauyojimbo) but I read everything both of you and yojimbo say.

GregX is the Libertarian who used to give me such a hard time that I mentioned in my last post. I am saddened that live-journal has a community devoted solely to making fun of other people but it doesn't surprise me that GregX posts there. The clique mentality of the internet is one of the most distasteful things about it.

I recommend keeping your journal locked ALWAYS (your last post was unlocked) and not posting in the Cafe at Toon Zone. That seems to be where most of the personal attacks are located. I'm sorry you had to go through this. Since I can't seem to be able to keep my browser open in your journal I'm posting this here to let you know you have my support.

Greg was the one who tainted your view on Libertarians? Doesn't surprise me since everyone who doesn't agree with him is an idiot. Why do so many people like him, anyway?

Yeah, before I met him I didn't have any problem with the concept. But he just kept RANTING about certain things and I found myself with a certain amount of distaste for the party. I wonder if he knows that I now have a similar feeling towards Gargoyles. He doesn't help ANY causes.

The sad thing is, he probably wouldn't care if you felt that way about Gargoyles. For a guy who supposedly wants to help the Gargoyles cause by bringing in more fans, he's not very welcoming.

That's what sucks. He tries to pretend he speaks on behalf of the entire fandom and he treats people like absolute garbage and when they decide that they MIGHT have better things to do with their time than take his crap he acts as if the fandom doesn't need them. Fine. Whatever. I may not have organized any Gatherings or know Greg Weisman personally but I wrote an Amazon review, tried to spread the word on Toon Zone and purchased BOTH Gargoyles releases on the Mass Purchase date for the first and the first week for the second. If he doesn't think the fandom needs me or my money, fine. But he is an arrogant ass to think he is helping the fandom in the slightest. Someone needs to sit down with Greg Weisman and tell him what an absolute jerk GregX and CrazyDemona are to people who have the slightest nerve to disagree with them and their idiotic beliefs. If Weisman REALLY wants to acquire more Gargoyles fans he could do with telling the person who claims to personally represent him what a absolute cretin he is being and how much it is hurting the fandom.

If and when the last Gargoyles DVD is released I won't be buying it opening week, if at all. They obviously don't need my money and my time so I'm not even going to bother anymore.

Even if Greg doesn't appreciate what you did, I do. I'm assuming Greg Weisman doesn't realize all this is going on, and I'm not sure it'd even be a good idea to get him in on this and have people choose loyalties or whatever happens when a fandom implodes (I've heard nightmare stories about MST3K).

The good news is, we don't have to come in contact with GregX at all if we want to enjoy Gargoyles comics and DVDs. I don't think you should avoid making any purchases just to hurt him, do what you want and leave him out of the equation.

It isn't to hurt him at all. I just associate Gargoyles with him and it sours my whole feelings on it when I watch it. That happens all the time. Thankfully it never happened to JLU.

And I couldn't get Greg Weisman involved even if I wanted to as I don't know him. But I still think he needs to be told. It has nothing to do about fandom loyalty and everything to do with chasing off potential fans and alienating people. Greg Weisman doesn't need to dress down GregX publicly to try to get him to knock it off.

Flash ads? That's downright strange. They appear on the same page or as a pop up, Matt? What browser do you use, IE or Firefox?

Firefox. They appear on the page. Sometimes my browser doesn't close but most of the time it does.

I looked on my Account to see if I could change anything and it looks like I had five topics selected for ads (I must have thought it was required to select some). I unchecked them all and saved it so it should be alright now. Maybe not with the old pages but from now on it shouldn't be a problem.
