The interesting thing about the emotional wallops of The Pontue Legacy is the saga was still relatively new, so I used a MUCH lighter touch than the rest of the saga for the devastating moments. I did that deliberately. I DO chase The Good Hurt, and the tears that make the reader feel good. But the truth is a great deal of the rest of the saga is legit upsetting, especially when I'm doing political allegories. The fact that these devastating and tragic things occur at the same time as extremely zany and funny things is something I love. And the fact that you can enjoy so much of the saga, even when you are filled with sorrow is a really cool thing, and another reason you might thank me for the tears instead of curse me for them.
Do you like Gilda And Meek? Then I am NOT going to punish you for having the audacity to be a fan of my work. I'll reward you whenever possible instead. Whatever bad things happen, we and the characters will get through them together. You'll feel things. But one thing you WON'T feel is like a piece of shit who was dumb enough to care about these characters to begin with. Treating a modern reader / viewer this way is rather unheard of these days, but rest assured, I believe you'll enjoy and appreciate the experience.
