On the surface, the Scandal with North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson posting vile posts on a porn site is kind of a "Dog Bites Man" story. After "Grab 'em by the pussy" Republicans either deny deny deny shit like this, or say "it's locker room talk". I was like, "He's a sociopath, of course he's not going drop out."
That link has a YouTube video from Meidas Touch were the guy TRIES to read some of those posts out loud, and he can't get through them. They are that legitimately upsetting and offensive. He's bragging in explicit details about having extremely raunchy and scatological sex with his wife's sister! It is purely insane and disgusting.
Even if the things posted were just fantasies on a porn site, and never happened, the specific things detailed speak of a profoundly disturbed mind. Ben Meiselas notes in the video that Cal Cunningham, a Democrat who ran for governor of North Carolina 8 years ago was shellacked by Republicans for extremely mild / affectionate texts from an extra-marital affair. That being disqualifying for them 8 years ago really brings home how far they have fallen by circling the wagon over this monster.
Robinson is crazy. Not just because of the gross talk and Nazi / slavery fantasies. He's crazy because he didn't drop out yesterday when there was still time. It would have been BAD for him, but being replaced by a saner candidate would make people quickly forget about it.
He's so crazy and stupid he doesn't understand that now this is ALL the next 50 days are gonna be about. They won't show or read those texts on CNN (for good reason) but most people WILL see them, and we'll see a mad scramble of Republicans deleting their Twitter accounts' photos of them shaking hands with the guy and calling him a good Christian and the next generation leader of the Republican Party. This won't just cost Trump the election (although I don't see how it doesn't), it will drag down the entire GOP with him.
We have a shitty Senate map this year. I think this might save us. People have predicted the demise of the Republican Party before, and I'm not dumb enough to believe when we win this election they'll crawl back into the sewer for good. But listen to this if you have the stomach. We will be winning elections this year in places we have no business winning elections.
I wish I felt better about that great news for America. But listening the video has me currently sick to my stomach. I am not exaggerating about how bad it is.
