Drew Sneakers and Jason Deroga for you! Forgive the smudges! I also had no color guide for Jason's pants and shoes so I did the best I could!

Happy Birthday, Nana!

Usually pages take between 20-30 minutes but these each took an hour and I'm wiped.

Lot of individual drawings for so few pages of script. I'm thinking instead of 18 pages left, there might be as many as 30. We'll see. I'm right back in this tomorrow night.

ABOUT THAT HIGHLY ANTICIPATED UPCOMING GILDA / VIC PUFF SMACKDOWN IN THE FINAL ISSUE OF THE UN-IVERSE..

I think you ought to temper your expectations there. Or more like accept NOW that it is NEVER gonna happen. Vic Puff and Gilda will not share another scene in The Un-Iverse. EVER.

Gilda IS the saga's greatest hero, so Vic has a legit claim as its Ultimate Evil, including souped-up superpowers that certainly would give Gilda a run for her money ten years later. But no. They will never see each other again. Their huge smackdown? Already occurred in Gilda And Meek #10 "With A Song In Her Heart / In Which We Meet The Elephantom" (Un-Iverse #21). Gilda's one and only encounter with The Un-Iverse's vilest villain involved her simply walking up to him and beating the everloving shit out of him with a baseball bat. I love that is their ultimate (and only) confrontation.

What are the reasons for this? Vic is not a personal enemy to Gilda in a way he is to both Bernadette and Otterman, so there wouldn't be as many emotional stakes if they fought for a "final" time. Ten years later, Gilda trusts Bernadette to handle this hump herself. Because he is less a hotshot destroyer of worlds, and more of a low-life piece of shit. Which is Bernadette's wheelhouse. I also wanted to show that after that explosive confrontation both Vic and Gilda sort of had an unspoken agreement to stay out of each other's way. Vic because despite him being a sadist is NOT a glutton for punishment there, and Gilda because once Vic became President she simply lost the ability to ever get the upper hand with him politically and personally.

I thought "Gilda meets the saga's biggest asshole ONCE, beats the shit out of him, threatens to kill him, and blackmails the jag for good measure." For me, that is way more satisfying to me as Gilda's creator that any hokey series finale smackdown I could give them.
