The Rotten Tomatoes reviews are not kind. And the tracking numbers for its potential opening weekend keep going down. A lot of people are like "What do you expect? They made it musical!"
The musical is one strike against it, but ultimately it shouldn't have mattered. Neither should have the R rating, which despite Deadpool's success, is more often a hindrance to success for superhero projects than a help.
No, the sequel's problem is that its budget is 200 million fucking dollars! That is insane on every level! It would have make about 400 million just to break even.
And the truth is I'm rooting for it to fail. I'm tired of Hollywood making these dumbass unforced errors and never being held to account. And yes, I DO blame James Gunn for this. But especially David Zaslav. The latter is the one that needs to go.
