Weekly talkback for Gilda And Meek And The Un-Iverse! Read an issue and discuss it here!
Here is my weekly article.
WHERE I, THE AUTHOR, AND THE NARRATOR DIFFER IN OUR OPINIONS I am constantly reminding people that me and the Narrator are two separate people and should be treated as such. The Narrator is an aspect of me, but he isn't me.
Let's start out with some key differences. The Narrator starts off the story far more judgmental of Augatha than I am. And I think she epitomizes the banality of evil. But the Narrator is way over the top in his complaints about her, including believing she is insane when she isn't in the least. He is also a far bigger prude than I am, and for that reason, he seems to strongly dislike me. I love him, so that is another difference between us.
We also differ on which characters we like and hate a bit. While both of our favorite character is Gilda, and we both hate Donna Demented and Vic Puff with a passion, the Narrator has some strong opinions I do not share. He seems to strongly dislike Bernadette at first, and she is my second favorite character. He also likes the Piranha slightly less than I do, and Meek slightly more. And while we share the opinion that Eddie Cat is NOT all bad, I think he cuts him far more slack than I do. And I love Eddie. But the Narrator is often defensive of his behavior when he shouldn't be.
The Narrator thinks The Supplements are the best thing I've ever written. I absolutely hate them.
But the biggest character love / hate difference is his feelings towards the minor, two-bit character of The Good King Farrell. I could care less about him, and don't have any strong feelings one way or the other. But the Narrator absolutely loathes the character in a way that alarms me a bit. The Narrator is completely obsessed with how much he sucks. And never shuts it off. And considering he only appears in two issues, it is something to take note of. King Farrell is Bears and the Narrator is Stephen Colbert. I think the ONLY memorable thing about Farrell is how much he pisses the Narrator off. I don't think much about him besides that.
