My mom had surgery today
Feb. 22nd, 2010 11:14 pmMy mom had a hernia and had to have minor surgery to have it corrected. She's fine but whenever she has to go to the hospital these days I'm always worried about her mortality.
My parents adopted me when they were relatively old (late thirties, early forties) so they are now pretty old compared to a lot of other parents of people my same age. I mean early-to-mid-seventies isn't THAT old but my ex girlfriend's parents were in their late forties early fifties (although admittedly that WAS seven or eight years ago). Whenever I tell people my parent's ages they are almost always surprised especially since I look MUCH younger than I actually am. (Note: I am not handsome. I'm overweight and goofy looking but I am well aware that one of my best physical features is how young I look. I'm in my mid thirties and could believably pass for a late teenager or someone in their early twenties on days when I'm freshly shaven and not tired). Everyone expressing surprise at my parent's age always kind of makes me feel weird.
