Markos is an idiot
Jun. 5th, 2008 07:24 pmSo, Daily Kos is one of those political sites which is supposed to rise above the bullplop of the assassine opinions of the corporate media. No longer. The owner of the site just lost ALL credibility with me and with most of the other people who post there.

Someone remarked that it was incredible that less than thirty-six hours after the netroots made REAL headway with their agenda with Obama becoming the nominee, schooling Joe Lieberman and kicking the lobbyists out of the DNC that the site has officially jumped the shark. Making fun of the color of McCain's teeth? What, is Markos twelve? I may not like McCain and think his policies are crap (he voted with Bush one hundred percent of the time in 2008 and 95 percent of the time in 2007) but this is a new low especially since it's been revealed that his dental work is the result of his time as a P.O.W. The post is entirely without class and hurts the credibility of every Obama supporter who claims to be interested in a new kind of politics.
I just cannot WAIT for Bill O'Reilly to use this as an example of Daily Kos being a hate site. Aside from the fact that the post was despicable Markos just hurt the cause by basically saying that it's okay to engage in the politics of the shallow and basically confirmed every stereotype about liberal elites.
Because the post WAS elitist. My dad doesn't have the best teeth and neither do a lot of people I know. It has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not someone is capable of being President. It's petty bullcrap. There are plenty of LEGITIMATE reasons why McCain has no business being president and Markos just made everybody at the site look bad especially since he refused to take down the post or even address the criticisms. We're progressive. We win on the issues. We don't NEED to engage in this type of behavior and I am 100 percent certain Obama would not approve.
To the site's credit most of the posters there are as enraged as I am. There are two diaries on the rec list pointing out how idiotic that post is. It's embarrassing and the site took a big hit because Markos wrote one of his typical mean-spirited posts that didn't just cross the line but obliterated it.
