I've had it with South Park. >:(
Apr. 19th, 2007 07:47 amThis is it. I'm done with it. I was going to give it till the end of the season but as of last night I am officially never going to be watching this show again. It is one of the most insidiously hateful shows on the air and it's all the worse because it never used to be like this.
Homeless people are mindless zombies? WTF kind of disgusting crap is this? South Park has NEVER really taken life that seriously but in the last couple of years it has devolved into a show with ZERO regard for human life and well-being. Invariably when someone calls Matt and Trey on their bull (see Sean Penn) they mock them as being as big of a problem to society as Kim Jong Il. They can dish it out but they can't take it.
I used to be stupid enough to believe that South Park's sensibilities weren't actually liberal or conservative but tried to be common sense and bi-partisan by making fun of everybody equally. Whether or not that was EVER the case is debatable but it's obvious to me now that South Park is a part of the right wing noise machine in making everybody into an "other" and thinking we can solve our problems be it global warming or politics by ignoring it. Nothing to see here, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
Do you know what else was disgusting? People getting shot in the face for being homeless. Did ANYBODY at Comedy Central have the common sense to think that ONE DAY after the Virginia Tech shootings seeing main characters murder other people for NO reason MIGHT be a hot button issue right now? No, of course not, screw EVERYBODY who might have been feeling more than a LITTLE bit queasy about senseless death today.
I should have KNOWN something was seriously wrong with the show after the Katrina "parody". It actually had the gall to suggest that the people who criticized the government for their lack of response should have gone down to New Orleans themselves instead of donating food or money (yeah, because everyone I know owns private helicopters). It seems that the more the right wing is exposed for incompetance, corruption, and being just plain evil the more the producers blame liberals for having the gall to point this out.
I fully expect a Blackburg "parody" next week blaming the shootings on liberals. Matt and Trey have thier tongues so far up Bush's pipe they can backwards French kiss him. This show makes me sick and I can't believe I EVER considered myself a fan.
