Being a kid

Rereading Stephen King's novella "The Body" (the basis for the film "Stand By Me") reminded me of the time I entered a pie eating contest. It was in my high school and each class was contested against each other in different fun events. I remember the whistle blowing and watching each of my fellow contestants mash their faces into the pies grossly with a mildly revolted look my face. So I took a fork out of my pocket and started daintily eating my pie. The class erupted with laughs and rushed forward on me hugging me and giving high fives. They KNEW exactly why I had entered the contest. It wasn't to WIN but merely to eat a free pie and friggin ENJOY it.
