I remember the last time I watched these episodes that I felt they were nowhere NEAR as good as JLU or even season two. But this is the first time that I've actually noticed the dialogue. Remember a week ago how I said BTAS' dialogue was REALLY corny? Well, JL season one is ten times worse. I kid you not, Flash actually says "Ew, gross!" TWICE so far.
Dwayne McDuffie has spoiled me. The one downside to his delicious dialogue on JLU is that it makes season one seem worse than it actually is. As a matter of fact the dialogue is almost as bad as The Batman's. The only difference is that the actors are actually GOOD on JL and manage to sell even the stupidest lines.
Poor George Newburn. He got unfairly reamed by the fans for season one but as Superman was the worst written character in season one (although Diana and J'onn are SERIOUS contenders) he was basically doing the best with what he had to work with the material provided. Sorta like Reverand Lovejoy and the Bible.
Don't get me wrong. I still loved season one and the fact that it was so old-school. Injustice For All also sets up Lex Luthor's arc nicely. But seriously, the dialogue needed SERIOUS work.
God bless Dwayne McDuffie.
Still, these extras rock!
