Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. "Meet The New Boss"

Love Director Batman so far. I love that he's happy go lucky, which is the last thing I expected when I heard Jason O'Mara was cast. Him being an Inhuman was juicy too. It's hinted that he's one the public could trust. If that is so, did he used to be a hero? The masked kind? Does that explain why none of the politicians knew that he was Inhuman, and SHIELD was trying to keep it secret?

Do you know what's weird? I don't think he's wrong for treating Coulson and May the way he did at the end. Yes, I want to see her helped. But I don't begrudge an authority figure who doesn't know her for not sharing that opinion. He's probably right anyways.

I knew May was in a bad way but I didn't expect things to go downhill as quickly as they did. I have no idea what is going on with the ghosts either.

I love that Leo isn't giving Daisy any benefit of the doubt. I love that because he was her biggest and most loyal (and practically only) defender in season two. That's how big a line she has crossed.

Pretty good episode. ***1/2.

Ultimate Spider-Man Vs. The Sinister 6 "Strange Little Halloween"

Not feelin' this. Although Spidey refers to this as his second worst Halloween. Am I wrong in thinking the Jessie crossover was the worst? Because it was for me. **.

Marvel's Avengers: Ultron Revolution "Panther's Rage"

Is there any bit of the Wakandan mythology that isn't awesome? Granted, the way they choose leaders is stupid but I like that this is a nation that doesn't take any s***.

Pretty good episode. Hope Panther DOES become an Avenger. ***1/2.

Marvel's Avengers: Ultron Revolution "Ant-Man Makes It Big"

This was so dumb. This is the kind of thing you could have seen on the Marvel Action Hour in the 90's. The fact that the animation is so superior is the only thing that distinguishes this from the cr*ppiness of Iron Man TAS and Fantastic Four TAS.

One good gag: when Tad quit I liked that the director and Thor high-fived. I liked it because there was no reason those two characters should have been doing that in that moment. Except it was funny. Which was enough. But literally all I liked in the episode lasted less than two seconds. 1/2.

Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy "Won't Get Fooled Again"

Not great. **1/2.

Star Wars Rebels "Step Into Shadows"

I have to say I REALLY dislike the new season so far, and if this is the new status quo, I think it's safe to say the series is a wash. Turning Ezra into a bloodthirsty cutthroat seems entire unnecessary. Before Ezra sucked because he was a Mary Sue. Now he sucks because he's a terrible person. The second thing is the much harder thing for me to forgive.

I do not get Kanan's new character design. Are the producer's stupid? Why are they purposefully giving him a super creepy mask so that instead of me empathizing with his struggles, I'm alienated by him instead?

I liked the giant rock monster. Mostly because he's the first character in the series smart enough to correctly believe that objects don't turn people evil. That is some stupid writing that the characters seem to always think that. If someone decides to be a bad person, that should be on them. "A holocron corrupted me and made me do it" is the most b.s. of excuses. But that's the only thing I liked.

I really think I'm going to hate this season, and I'm betting by the end of it, I'll hate this series too. I am not happy. *.

Star Wars Rebels "The Holocrons Of Fate"

This is not usually one of those shows where I look forward to what is coming up on upcoming episodes. Usually the show hints that something upsetting is going to happen, and they often deliver, which is pretty much the craziest and stupidest audience promise a kids show can make. But Maul being shocked that "he" is alive and rushing off? I won't lie. I want to know who "he" is badly.

Tom Baker rules. That is all.

I really wish Kanan would lose the mask. I find his actual damaged face much less upsetting than that creepy thing. I know he's blind, but maybe a friend should make him aware it is a fashion don't.

Better than last week, although that isn't saying much. **1/2.

Elena Of Avalor "Royal Retreat"

The good:

I am reminded why I hate the rich. And in the age of Trump, instilling that value in children is good. The episode also give kids a healthy mistrust of greed and authority.

The bad:

I hated every second Hector was onscreen. There was no part of that dude that didn't suck and he was pretty much the Disney version of Dolores Umbridge. A character so loathsome that the episode is actually terrible when he is present. And he was in it a LOT.

Did I mention I hated Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix? **1/2.

Once Upon A Time "The Savior"

They recast Jafar? Weak! Naveen Andrews owned that role. I am not happy. He will be missed.

Why is it whenever something bad happens to Emma and somebody asks her if something is wrong, she always lies and says it is nothing? Problems might not get as bad as they do if Emma was more honest about when she's in trouble. It's cliched and badly written at this point. Unacceptable writing.

What I especially hate is that she lies to Hook at the end even when she knows about what the problem is. This show has terrible writers and producers.

I don't believe Emma is going to die. The writers are just jerking us around.

Henry had an interesting opinion: Hades was lying about Robin's soul being destroyed. Do you know what? Now that he's said it I think Hades probably was.

Belle and Rumple's son, huh? I'm betting he was right about Rumple.

Zelina looks a bit disturbed to see the Evil Queen. Good. That's the reaction I was hoping to see. It means Zelina is not beyond redemption.

Theory: the killer of the Savior is the Evil Queen. Kind of obvious guess but I stand by it.

What was the significance of Robin's feather on the bench? Is it a message from beyond the grave? Or merely a nod to Forest Gump? We'll see.

The premiere had a lot of problems that I am not willing to look past. **.

Once Upon A Time "A Bitter Draught"

I kind of love the Evil Queen sexually humiliating Rumple. And that IS what is going on. I'm a little less sure if I want them to actually go through with it. The will they or won't they between Rumple and Regina and Cora were the best parts of those characters' interactions with each other. I'm not sure we should ever get a definite "yes."

I'm glad Hook feels ashamed of shooting Belle, and I'm gladder that the show actually had him describe it as "laying hands on her", and making the domestic violence angle explicit. On the other hand, I think Belle is TOO good of a person. She really should never have forgiven him for that.

The Evil Queen returning is good and bad. Bad because it entirely retcons the reason she was brought back in the first place. If Regina can get corrupted than I feel this show is AGAIN jerking us around for no good reason. Having Good Regina turn evil is the second coming of the lie detector. Why bother coming up with a particular premise if they aren't going to follow it?

The good thing is that the Queen is going to be a pain in the neck. There's a reason she won tonight. She thought of everything. She put a dampener on Regina's magic. She messed up Henry's cell phone. She even specifically stole something from Rumplestiltskin for the sole reason of getting him into her debt. The heroes are asking Regina to think like the Evil Queen, and that's the right tack. Because all episode, the Evil Queen was thinking like the heroes.

I would have really enjoyed the episode if not for the last fifteen minutes. It's like every single time Once gets remotely good, it can't help it. It immediately goes back to betrayal and heartbreak. And at this point, not only should the show not need that, but it's getting pretty freaking old. Why couldn't they just have the Evil Queen be the Big Bad? Why is the threat that everyone is going to turn against each other? Why would I want to to see that? How will that help the characters or the show? I really wish I were put in charge of all of my favorite genre projects. Because there are some tropes I would if not get rid of, I'd limit their use. And constant betrayals and backstabbing is one of them. I'm sick of it on this show. ***.

Once Upon A Time "The Other Shoe"

I like the idea that Ella's evil step-sister isn't actually evil. Unfortunately I think they pulled the stepmother too far in that direction. She is so unrepentantly nasty that you question why Cinderella's father would ever marry her. And the truth is, he wouldn't. If Cinderella's father is truly as kind as the fairytales state he was, he would have stayed far away from this obvious psychopath. She's not even subtle. She's evil and homicidal and doesn't try to hide it. Which is something that doesn't make sense for Cinderella's wicked step-mother. She should be a horrible person. But a murderous person? I don't think that's a credible idea.

I also hated where she ended up. An attempted murderer gets community service? One of Once's biggest faults is that they have no idea how to properly punish their villains.

Good to see Dr. Whale again, especially since he's in his Frankenstein get-up. I'm glad iZombie is so understanding of David Anders and this show. A lot of TV shows that lock down actors are not so understanding, which is why Sidney was gone for as long as he was.

Honestly, I mostly enjoyed this but the psychopathic Stepmother doesn't hold up to the slightest bit of scrutiny. ****.

Teen Titans Go! "Oh Yeah!"

At first I thought it was kind of random that Cyborg was taking the turn of the sensible Titan. It struck me as extremely out of character. That should be something he would love.

Except he wouldn't. Vic Stone is an actual athlete and probably the only Titan who is. Of course he'd hate that fake wrestling stuff. I just wish the episode had believed in the moral enough for him not to get caught up in it in the end. ***.

Teen Titans Go! "Riding The Dragon"

Do you know how you can tell the game Dungeons and Dragons sucks? You have to fill out forms and complete homework before you can play. Lame. I just wanna ride the dragon. ***.

Teen Titans Go! "The Overbite"

Raven has the skills to provide the paying of the bills.

Does Tom Jones have an overbite? I don't recall that about him.

I love that all of the Forbidden Dances are actually super lame. "Okay, now we're just doing yardwork!".

It's a Regular Show episode so it gets a zero, but if it weren't for that rule, it would get four stars at least. 0.

DC Super Hero Girls "Hawkgirl's Day Off"

Mrs. Clayface? Um, okay. **.

The Flash "Flashpoint"

Interesting take. I have to question why Barry ultimately reset the universe. It was FAR better the way it was. I might have understood the decision if Wally had died, but he didn't, at least not yet. Was it because time was a factor and he would have lost his memory? I can buy that. But it seems to me that Eobard's claims of time catching up to Barry in that particular universe never materialized.

I'm angry they didn't retcon Henry's death.

Here's something interesting: In the rebooted time montage we never saw Caitlin. This obviously means she is now Killer Frost. I loved Caitlin's scene in the episode because I don't think we'll see her being adorable again for a very long time.

I like how they came up with a good idea to explain why there weren't three or four Flashes in the house that night. That could have gotten confusing.

I love Iris and how she instantly falls in love with Barry. It is very unlike our Iris who struggles mightily to admit the obvious. But I like that Flashpoint Iris wears her heart on her sleeve and recognizes true love when she experiences it.

Is the mirror a hint that Mirror Master is coming? Or is the Alchemist an entirely separate villain? And even if he is, is the guy in the bed Mirror Master?

Another unanswered question: this particular Flashpoint scenario did not involve a universe going to hell and being destroyed. That's cool and probably best for the other three Arrowverse shows. But just based on the fact that stuff was still changed when Barry got back, does this mean stuff is going to change on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow too? Is Black Canary really dead in the rebooted timeline? What about Leonard Snart? Is Supergirl now a part of the Arrowverse? I like that we'll probably get the answers to those questions sooner rather than later.

I actually was afraid I'd hate the episode. But I didn't by a longshot. I actually kind of loved it. *****.

Arrow "Legacy"

Echo Kellum's a series regular now? Cool! John Barrowman isn't anymore? Boo!

I'm not sure I'm on-board with the SCPD being so corrupt. Star City isn't Gotham. Or at least it shouldn't be.

I love that immediately after Oliver sees the cameras, he raises his hands in surrender. VERY smart is our Oliver.

Hub City and Bludhaven shout-outs.

It's amazing that Oliver is back to killing, especially because, in a nod for the pilot, he did it for a selfish reason, i.e. to protect his secret. You could tell right before the guy died he knew exactly how much trouble he was in, and why. I laughed at Oliver calling Tobias Church stupid. Because the fact that he didn't realize he kidnapped the Arrow means he is.

Loved, loved, loved Quentin empathizing with Thea, especially after she talks about how Laurel dying affected her. The old Quentin would have been offended or rude about it, but I love that he comforts her in this moment. That was SO awesome.

Once we realized exactly what Laurel said to Oliver before she died, I realized she did not fake her death and is not coming back. Even Flashpoint couldn't fix that. At least this means that Oliver will probably get back with Felicity at some point, and they are the real love story of the series. That is small comfort, but comfort nonetheless.

I love Anatole. Always have. Always will. He dislocates thumbs rather than cuts ropes. And he does it with a smile.

Wait, there's ANOTHER guy named Constantine on the series? This might get confusing.

Curtis doesn't see the distinction between a superhero and a vigilante. Frankly, I don't either. Felicity is splitting hairs.

The visual effects on Oliver jumping out of that exploding building and hitching a ride to the helicopter were totally tight. Loved it.

I hate Felicity's douchey new boyfriend. Because he's gonna be a bad guy. Because this is television. And that's how this works. Heck, he might even be the guy in the hood at the end. Did I mention I HATE television?

Cool Curtis scored himself an invite into the club. He's a no-brainer for a recruit.

I wonder why Felcity didn't understand why Oliver would have an easier time accepting working with trained cops than untrained, naive civilians. She's acting like the scenarios are equivalent. And they're not. Frankly, if I were Oliver, I would not have changed my mind.

I'm glad they aren't gonna do the whole Evil Arrow mistaken identity thing. That got old by season 2.

Promising premiere, but I can't help but feel they are jerking us around with Oliver and Felicity. ****.

Gotham "Mad City: Burn The Witch"

I'm not going to opine whether or not Fish was lying to Penguin to get him to spare her. That seems besides the point. What is significant to me is that he believed her. And I will not lie. It sounded convincing on her end. The fact that she also didn't try to gain the upper hand and kill him in that moment tells me it is likelier than not she was being genuine.

I hate Gordon. He actually thinks that was a good plan. If you don't count all of the idiotic civilians killed when Gordon urged them to storm the house. These were hardly innocent bystanders, but they would still be alive if Gordon didn't consider them an acceptable loss. He is such a scumbag.

I'm a little bit amazed he kept his word to Penguin, but I'm guessing he realizes it's better he not burn bridges with Penguin instead of Fish. As Fish noted he has a future.

Butch seemed really uncomfortable during this episode and didn't offer very many opinions. I want to see a scene of him and Fish now.

Mchael Chiklis got his "and" cast credit back. That's better.

I don't have any strong feelings one way or another about the new Ivy actress but I can tell you this: she is not interesting enough to have gotten rid of such a money in the bank asset as Clare Foley. They traded down. And it was crazy for the show to get rid of one of its biggest selling points. This is just about as dumb as killing off Moroni at the end of season one. This show can't help but squander its rare gifts.

Not as good as last week. ***1/2.

Gotham "Mad City: Look Into My Eyes"

So now we know why this arc is called Mad City.

This is a particularly skeevy version of Jervis Tetch, even by Mad Hatter standards. There is no part of him that doesn't disgust me. It's the teenage moustache that refuses to fill in that unnerves me the most. He's a child grooming himself as if he's adult. That's what teenage moustaches have always meant to me, at least on white guys.

Boy, Penguin is a good friend to have. He basically cleaned up Riddler's entire problem from season two. He spent that season going nuts because he couldn't think of a way out of that problem and Penguin fixes it as if it were nothing.

Penguin running for Mayor doesn't sit right with me. It's far too early in the canon for that. I felt the same way when they introduced Bizarro on Smallville. Bizarro should only be present with Superman, and Hizzoner the Penguin should only be present with Batman. Am I crazy? I don't think so.

I love that Penguin is still trying to make his loving father proud. The fact that Penguin had awesome parents is the thing I love best about the character.

I don't know much about Five. There is a chance his intentions are not actually malevolent (at least at this stage of the game). But I'll tell you one thing. He is outright dangerous. And probably crazy. If the show has him and Selina losing their virginity to each other I will stop watching. That's a promise.

I love that Mario is Don Falcone's son. Because I love Don Falcone. For some reason Carmine seemed more sinister that usual, probably because he correctly guessed that Gordon is probably going to mess things up. Still, Mario is a numbnuts. He asks Jim if they're cool while stitching up a massive head wound. As if Jim's gonna say anything different during that.

This episode is more of a set-up than anything. Depending on how they pay off the various plot threads, the season could be amazing, or the worst yet. Frankly, the jury is still out here. ****.

Lucifer "Liar, Liar, Slutty Dress On Fire"

Oh, this is getting a super low grade. Seriously disgusted right about now. Why?

"Are you watching porn?" That is the single most repulsive line anyone could have EVER said to what Lucifer's mother said in that moment. I'm actually so sickened I'm angry. It's not the same level of ick as Ramsey Bolton and Jeyne Poole's wedding night in A Dance With Dragons. But if Lucifer were a book I would have thrown it across the room as I did reading that scene in George R. R. Martin's trashiest novel ever. Ugh.

How did that even make it past the censors? I mean, I don't like censors much, but they should at least serve SOME purpose if they exist. I would have liked a censor who spared us from that.

Amendiel is probably losing the wings because of all the sinning. And he doesn't appear to be stopping it anytime soon.

American Girl dolls disturb me. There is no type of doll for children that should cost $200. I get adult collectors paying insane money for things that don't actually contain much real-world value, but the American Girl doll company is simply taking rich people for a ride. Their kids cannot actually tell the difference between those dolls and the $30 kind you get at Toys R Us. They are just buying them for the label. I understand that labels drive fashion, but it really shouldn't drive children's toys. As high quality as those dolls probably are, there is no way they cost $200 to make. It's one of the biggest scams in kids entertainment, and I'm amazed the Better Business Bureau hasn't gotten involved at some point. Ralph Nader isn't good for much, but he used to be good for stuff like this. Where is his loser @$$?

Do you know what is interesting (and disturbing) about Charlotte? Tricia Helfer and Tom Ellis have an insane amount of sexual chemistry. Part of me wonders if that's partly why she was hired. And if it was, the show is again disgusting.

Still, it's good casting otherwise. Genius really. Who knows better how to play a dead person being resurrected back to life in a new body better than Caprica 6? Nobody, that's who.

After seeing this episode, I think I'm gonna hurl. *.

Power Rangers: Dino Super Charge "Silver Secret"

Koda is the worst c*** blocker ever.

The singing stuff was SO stupid.

How does that particular alien actually fit into the Silver Ranger costume? That's as dumb as having a ten year old be the Blue Ranger on Power Rangers Turbo.

The pineapple thing was stupid as were the cue cards. Wouldn't it have been easier and more convincing to memorize their lines? It's not like they had that many. And it's not like Tyler and Shelby can't suddenly and inexplicably turn into a song and dance couple at the drop of a hat.

Dumb, even for this show. *.

Power Rangers: Dino Super Charge "Trick Or Trial"

That was idiotic. Even by this show's standards.

Still, I DID like the pumpkin the monster carved at the end.

Is every single Halloween and Christmas episode a clip show? Because I've never seen any that weren't.

The 10 strikes thing is random, but it's specifically so many because the episode is so thin they'd never even be able to fill out a freaking clip show otherwise.

Dumb. 0.

The Simpsons "Monty Burns' Fleeing Circus"

I loved it. An excellent five star episode. This show does those again. And it seems to do them a lot.

The Adventure Time couch gag was probably about four years too late. That show is no longer the sensation it once was.

"Do you ever say anything in an uncomplicated way?" "Shut up." "Okay, that was clear." Great exchange.

I laughed at the Cat Lady singing opera while she stood on the backs of a flock of cats as they daintily carried her around the stage.

Loved seeing Comic Book Guy's girlfriend again.

The scene with Ned and the ghosts of Maude and Edna was very interesting. I regret seeing it and wish I never did. But we kind of needed to. I think it was VERY interesting that the show decided right then to say that Ned preferred Maude to Edna, especially considering Edna's death was not a joke or done because the producers were trying to shock the audience. Marcia Wallace dying sucked and I like that as much as the producers know we love her, it would be a bit out of character for Ned to prefer her to the mother of his children. I hate that we got that moment but I'm also very glad we did at the same time.

I loved it. *****.

The Simpsons "Friends And Family"

I liked this a lot. I love the moral that men and women can be friends and Marge realizing she was being unreasonable. That doesn't happen very often even when she is. I especially love that they did a flashforward at the end to show Marge and Homer still together, happy and in love. Julia was never a threat and the producers made sure the audience knew it.

Ironically Marge posing for a scenario where Burns made love to a virtual version of her automatically means that Homer had a legit reason to be mad at HER. It's interesting the show didn't explore that, but I think the wrong spouse was angry at the other.

I love that there was a pingpong ball stuck to the virtual pingpong ball.

Smithers has a smaller house than the hounds? That makes me laugh for some reason.

I don't want to see Mr. Burns' home movies. Because just based on the goose stepping and hand salutes, I can guess what they are.

I laughed at Homer using the microwave as a bowl after exploding desserts in it. The hammock and Police Academy things show that Homer has the best ideas. Didn't quite get the point of the lawnmower but all of the rest of Homer's slacking activities were golden. Remember the Caramel waffle butter stick in "Homer the Heretic"? That bit of genius was not a fluke.

I love the idea that Moe's is only fun when Homer is trying to avoid chores. So Marge gives him some chores and suddenly Moe's is fun again.

Really enjoyable episode. ****1/2.

The Simpsons "The Town"

The Simpsons finally come to Massachusetts. I personally think they were far too kind.

Bart's idea of the Masshole was the correct one. Him saying the Boston Tea Party was a prank so kick@$$ it started a country is true. I do NOT get all of the people down South complaining about effete Massachusetts liberals. Bostonians are a bunch of loudmouth, dirtbag aholes. I would not be calling a Bostonian effete because they'd rip your lungs out for it. And again, the unspoken racism of the town is not THAT unspoken.

And yeah, the Patriots cheat. The thing that really should make sports fans mad is that the Championships they win still "count". They've never had a trophy taken back for their shenanigans. And I imagine that's gotta get old.

I have to agree with Homer that Candlepin bowling is awesome. I've never even played the other kind. There are only two balls? What a bunch of Philistines.

But I will give Massachusetts this. We DO vaccinate our kids. We're progressive, but not stupid progressive. You'd never guess it from Family Guy, but New England people are generally speaking intelligent, even if they are much crasser than our Ivy league schools would indicated. Peter Griffin once lamented that is beggars belief that a city with such amazing colleges could produce nothing but dopes, and even if he's partly right, he's not completely right. Normally, everyday non-Southie Massholes are pretty on the ball. At least when they're not being complete racists.

The one thing I didn't like is the resolution. The Simpsons have to move because Homer refuses to put on a hat? Not credible. Not as dumb as Homer's salamander costume. But it's in the same ballpark.

I think The Simpsons let The Town off easy. ***1/2.

Bob's Burgers "Flu-ouise"

Best line goes to Kuchi Kopi: "Don't tell me 'shhh'."

I love that Louise spits out her medicine. Like she wants to get better.

Nobody else caught the flu at the end. That was refreshing.

I gotta say, Clyde is pretty much the best toy salesman ever. Teddy was right to talk him up. He actually reads Bob the entire story and Bob winds up loving it. He takes his job very seriously and I think that makes him the third decent adult on the show besides Bob and Teddy.

I love that Louise knows ninja moves in her fever dream.

Louise episodes were getting a bit surprisingly stale last year, mostly due to the fact that they were revealing that Louise is a bit stupid. But this was a return to form for the character. ****.

Bob's Burgers "See Me Now"

Ironically, the best parts of the episode were in the last 60 seconds. I loved the kids telling Bob to read more and talk more often with Linda, and Teddy singing "Beyond the Sea" over the end credits was truly hilarious. But the rest of the episode didn't wow me. ***.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine "Coral Palms, Part 2"

I was rolling at Jake being disturbed and frankly confused why he was grossed out by the glass eye being surprisingly dry. "Why am I freaked out? Did I WANT it to be wet?" I freaking love that.

I also love that the sheriff (Jerry!) is an idiot but also smarter than we were expecting. He totally pwned Jake and Holt with the Newlywed Game trick. No-one beats the Newlywed Game. Something that smart and dumb is what Columbo excelled at. The Sheriff beat Holt and Jake because they underestimated him.

Loved Holt's expression when Jake kissed him. He was super surprised. It wasn't like he was happy, mad, or grossed out, it's just total shock and there is no other emotion he can process in that moment. That was very funny.

I love Jake trying to empower the methhead.

Ken Marino as the new Captain was funny. Frankly, I think Amy was overthinking things. Apparently, they hadn't had a captain for six months. And this guy was completely hands off. It's pretty much the exact same thing as the status quo except people are getting free stuff out of it. Only Amy would see that as a bad thing. If the 9-9 was falling apart he'd be the worst captain for that, but as it was already doing well with everybody running them themselves, Amy was making things more complicated than they needed to be.

"Blood yogurt" is incredibly popular in Westeros.

Love Gina's new assistant. I hope she's a permanent fixture this season.

Great episode. That glass eyeball thing had me rolling. Did I WANT it to be wet? ****1/2.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine "Coral Palms, Part 3"

Jake and Holt didn't have a TON of scenes together but the few they had were golden. I loved Holt announcing he had been impaled by a pipe in the same tone as if he were discussing the weather. The man literally never complains about anything. I also adore the fact that he's comforting Jake while performing surgery on himself. "You're doing great," means many things in that moment, but none more than that Raymond is pretty much the best friend anyone could ever have.

Look forward to the night shift next week. ****1/2.

The Good Place "Jason Mendoza"

My opinion that The Good Place is actually messed up and a really bad place remains unchanged.

I love that they gave Jason a legit reason for not wanting to live a double life. Because in circumstances that dire, a normal person would want to play along at any cost. But he's Hurley on Lost. The lie hurts more than the punishment.

This series is going to be interesting. ***1/2.

The Good Place "Category 55 Doomsday Crisis"

Is Chiti actually a virgin? Is that why he is so high strung? I think Eleanor got it wrong. I think Chiti's secret is that he REALLY wants to have sex with Eleanor but believes it is ethically wrong. I mean, she's Kristen Bell. Who wouldn't be driven nuts denying themselves that, especially since Eleanor pretty much said she was open to it tonight? I think Chiti's real problem is that Eleanor IS his soulmate and he can't reconcile that fact with the fact that she doesn't belong there.

Worst professions for their houseguests to be involved in in their former lives. On the plus side, they seem to be REALLY bad at their jobs.

I love that literally every soulmate couple is interracial. I didn't notice that the first couple of weeks but there are literally no pairings of people who are the same race. That's really cool and funny and might explain why the rest of us are so miserable.

Good episode. ****.

Son Of Zorn "Defender Of Teen Love"

I love that not only does Zorn have a bald spot, but he doesn't care about it. I also laughed that the safe combo was 0006. Hilarious.

I love this show so far. ****.

Son Of Zorn "War In The Workplace"

So people can tell Alan's legs are freaky but nobody calls them cartoon legs. It is very weird that nobody understands the elephant in the room.

Zorn playing with "live-action" office supplies was the worst animated scene so far. Those were very clearly choppily CGI animated paper clips and staplers.

I love that Craig refers to his bully as a "she" with no sense of self-awareness.

"Kicker of fat kids" is a great mythic title.

I'll never get used to Bobby Lee's pornstache. It looks awful.

I love Zorn hating the apology. He was begging him not to do it, and it's amazing that he still took it at face value, considering how insincere and literally forced it was. But I like even Zorn has a specific code about somebody standing down in battle.

Pretty good. ***1/2.

The Last Man On Earth "General Breast Theme With Cobras"

I have no idea how this show manages to sustain itself but that was h*llagood. Still. I don't get why this refuses to burn out. It cannot keep this up. Can it?

Pat is truly frightening and I think Melissa shooting that other guy was the right decision. If they were truly friendly they wouldn't be storming the place with guns.

I loved that Gale's weapon was drinking wine and then smashing the bottle. That was perfect.

Wow. I am still amazed at this show. *****.

The Last Man On Earth "The Wild Guess Express"

I loved it. I'll tell you one thing about Lewis: I hate him. He is inserting himself into the group dynamics unearned. Phil 2 was a similar level of headache, but at least he took the time to befriend everybody and get to know them before asserting full leadership. Considering Lewis held a gun on everyone just one episode ago, he is in no position to question Phil's decision to spare Todd's feelings.

I love Melissa this season. Her being surprisingly cold-blooded and heartless makes me love her more than I ever have. And it is just me or is January Jones even more radiant this season than ever? She is beautiful.

I love that Carol was the one person Tandy treated with the actual truth. I love that about both of them and that she's the only person he trusts enough to do that.

Still, you want evidence Tandy is a creep? He is SUPER good at skulking and sneaking around. It's almost a superpower level of good at being this dirtbag. I also love how he treats the dummies as people. That goes back to him and the balls in season one.

This show is still going for some reason and isn't slowing down yet. I'm still impressed. *****.

Family Guy "The Boys In The Band"

OMG Vinnie! Great place for him to end up. I am pleased.

Also they need to keep bringing Olivia. Precisely because she is so bad for Stewie. I don't think there is quite another female baby who gets in his head so much.

"Please don't drink" is pretty much the funniest Kermit the Frog line ever.

I loved Chris' run to the airport. Honestly? If I had seen that in a live-action movie, I would consider it the definitive version of that trope, grandma slobber aside. It was pretty much perfect. I loved it because instead of the show pointing out why the trope sucks, it seems to actually be pointing out why it's awesome. Maybe that wasn't the writers' intention. But if they WERE truly bashing those scenes they should have made it less perfect. I would have considered that a perfect moment in a romantic comedy.

Funny episode. We need more of Olivia. ****.

Family Guy "Bookie Of The Year"

Why is it that opening title card is the first I've heard of Frank Sinatra Jr. dying? Weak!

I loved Peter's "That was something else" about kissing the guy in the Camaro and him saying he wasn't crazy while wearing a garbage bag.

Not bad. ***1/2.

Scream Queens "Warts And All"

So we learn how Chanel survived the season finale. The Red Devil in the cliffhanger was Chad messing with her. I'm satisfied with that answer.

Jamie Lee Curtis kicking the killer's @$$ will never get old.

"Burping the worm". I gonna have to remember that. Because... reasons.

"I think we just touched wieners." God, I am SO glad Chad is back.

Hester as Hannibal Lecter is going to be amazing.

Chamberlain is nice, helpful, and black. This is a horrowshow. He is an upcoming casualty.

Colton Haynes needs to wash his face. Loved Chanel #5 beating up his tormentors. I think in that moment she wished they were the Chanels. So did I, to be honest.

MUCH better than last wek. ****1/2.

Van Helsing "Stay Inside"

Wow, that teaser was brutal. Finally found out exactly how a volcano eruption caused the vampire apocalypse. And the scary thing is that it happened QUICK! One vampire decides to be a butthole and the entire world is over with 60 seconds.

This show has horrifying ways to drink blood. I nearly lost my lunch at the scene with the vampire and the junkie.

I like Flesh a lot. And I like that Doc was turned back so quickly. She really should have been their first real test case. What is interesting about the Doc to me is that even though she was a vampire for a couple of years, she hasn't actually killed anybody. She has nobody's deaths on her conscience. I very curious how she will relate to Flesh.

I loved Flesh scaring the vampires. Because that is what he is doing.

This show is horrible. And I'm hooked. ****.

Van Helsing "Coming Back"

Wow, that was super boring. And considering how great the first three weeks were, that surprises me.

Flesh is absolutely right that the Doc is lucky. How can not see that?

I predict the deaf guy is the murderer. Because he's the one I want it to be least and some of the things he did this episode alarmed me. He seemed a LITTLE too curious about the idea that vampires fully heal their bodies and their hearing is better than humans. TOO curious.

That sex scene at the beginning was one of the least sexy sex scenes I've ever seen. The two people barely moved. I am very aware that this was basic cable at that moment.

Really, I disappointed. That sucked. *1/2.

The Blacklist "Mato"

More than a little bit infuriating. I'm glad Kaplan isn't dead. Because I never would have forgiven Red for that. Ever. I love that Kaplan refused to make it easy for him or Tom. Because she was right. She was punished for looking out for Liz instead of Red. I'm glad she survived.

I'm sick of Liz being a damsel in distress at this point. Did I mention how stupid her plan of crashing a helicopter into the ocean was?

I don't take what we were shown in the flashbacks at face value. Because this show refuses to play fair with the viewer and every time they give us an answer they retcon it down the road. I have no reason to think that isn't true here too.

Better than last week but that isn't saying much. **1/2.

The Blacklist "Miles McGrath"

Better than average. I am impressed with Aram and bummed for him and Navabi at the same time. We'll see what happens.

Loved the spy-fi with Liz and Tom at the office.

I'm really worried about Kaplan. She is in bad shape.

First decent episode of the season. ***1/2.

Blindspot "Hero Fears Imminent Rot"

Do you know how I know Sandstorm is not looking out for Jane's interests? They keep doing degrading things to her for no reason. Like sticking a needle in her neck to knock her out for a secret car ride, or making her ride in the trunk the second time. Jane's right. A blindfold or a bag over the head works just as well. The story with the rabbits also was terrifying.

The FBI therapist is the mole. 99% certain. He would NEVER deny speaking Arabic if he wasn't. Because there would be no other reason to. Another clue is that he's seems to be developing more personal connections with both Patterson and Reed which will make the betrayal hurt more.

Pretty good episode. ***1/2.

Blindspot "If Beth"

Mostly sucked but there were two good things:

1. Meridia shooting out the door was truly pleasant surprise. Did not see that coming. And I really should have.

2. Weller pondering whether pouring Nas a glass would prevent him from enjoying the rest of the booze was a great line. Because it's layered and means two things at once. He has to talk to Nas and can no longer drink alone. And if he shares, there is less for him. I loved that line. TV usually can't come up with layered lines unless its Twin Peaks. That was a pretty good one. Especially since this show is usually so crummy. **1/2.
