First off, and this addressed to our entire Dreamwidth Family:

Let it be known today that in the state of Iowa, just THREE DAYS into 2024, another school shooting occured just this morning, with one already dead and two injured at the moment. Let it also be known that Republican dipshits like Mike Johnson and Tim Burchett are already writing up their worthless "thoughts and prayers/blame the mentally ill since we don't even prioritize it for minority groups. And let it ALSO be known that this Saturday, the anniversary of THE MOST disgraceful and treacherous day in American history BY FAR, a certain already psychotic, vengeful and murderous King of all that is Inhumane and Narcissistic has plans to do two celebratory rallies to "honor the patriots" who said "FUCK YOU!" to all of America to revive White Neo-Nazi nationalist rule. Let all that sink in for a moment. This is what the Republican Party is now. They have -- will continue to -- told American voters, "Elections? Take your voting rights and shove 'em where the Sun don't shine!"

I have GREAT doubt Election 2024 even matters to them. They know only a puny few will vote Republican, so they've decided to break laws and revoke constitutional rights while silently complying with what will obviously be another armed coup (maybe even before November, since the asshat will be convicted, he'll blow his kid and use Truth (less) Social to tell his dim-watt AR-15 wielding hillbillies to fan out and kill, kill, kill to avenge him) because deep down, the candidates know there's not even any point in running for the Oval Office. Like Matt said, Republican voters already chose their candidate; they've chosen him since 1/6/2021.

It's not an expose. It a personal story from a father who lost their son to gun violence. Hearing how real people are suffering often does more to change hearts and minds than political calculation.
