Inara was the main female though. Had the series continued it's obvious River Tam would have been given a more central role (Inara was sidelined in Serenity while River was spotlighted) but that never happened. As for Dollhouse having more episodes, that is a true point, however Firefly had a MUCH bigger "finale" than Dollhouse in Serenity, and didn't bother really wrapping the franchise up in anticipation of sequels that never happened. Dollhouse was the first and ONLY Joss show that had a definite and satisfying ending that rules out any future live-action projects such as a movie. And it's all that more impressive considering it didn't have ALL that much more leadtime than Firefly did between it's cancelation and the finale. Firefly's biggest problem was that Joss never got to wrap up the season and the show just seems to "stop" which happened because the show was canceled so suddenly. However Dollhouse was canceled pretty quickly too in the end, but the writers were smart enough to have contingency plans and were given three episodes lead time. I think Firefly would have been an even better series had Fox bothered giving Joss even ONE full season. As it stands, it's a really good show that had the potential to be a great one but never actually had the chance.
