As for American Dad, it's weird how it's more disturbing than Family Guy. I think because it's more grounded in reality. FG can have cutaways where Peter is an eye or someone runs into a TV character, but American Dad is straightforward, so when it gets a bit intense, it reaches new levels of disturbing.
