matt_zimmer: (Gilda And Meek And The Un-Iverse)
This one was giving me problems because I knew I'd have to write MOST of it from scratch. But tonight I got out:

Lance Lockjaw: The Way Home #2 The Terran Wars: Chapter Seven "Die Hard In A Dunce Cap" (Un-Iverse #78).

What can I tell The Dreamwidth Faithful?

This specific issue has the most shocking twist ending in the franchise's entire history. I suspect when you see it you will worry and freak out.

Not on behalf of the characters. On behalf of the story. I expect you will think the entire franchise has gone off the rails.

I won't give any plot details. But I will give the Dreamwidth Faithful TWO things before anyone else.

My Coming Soon Blurb for BlogSpot will not be put on that site until I have completed the 76th issue. It'll be awhile. Here is it, possibly years early, exclusively for the Dreamwidth Faithful:

This issue arguably has the most shocking ending so far. But like MANY surprise twists in The Un-Iverse, it's not necessarily a bad one, and could lead somewhere interesting.

That being said, if I am a crappy writer after all, this will be the point you consider the shark jump, and where the saga implodes. If I know what I'm doing, good things could be in store.

You better pray I know what I'm doing.

Likewise, the Author's Note is likely to change in the time between now and when the issue is put to paper. Here is what I have so far:

"Matt will NOT fuck me over. Matt will NOT fuck me over. Matt will NOT fuck me over."

I want you to repeat these words to yourself upon seeing that troubling ending, and understand I that have never forgotten that promise I made to you long ago. And you shouldn't either.

I am aware of how unwieldy the plot turn you just wtinessed was. How it has the potential to be the series' shark jump, and basically wreck every last good thing I've ever done or said with the saga.

But I will not forget my promise. I will not. Count on it. You have my word.

Again, neither of these things remotely reveal plot points from The Terran Wars. But they suggest all bets are now off. Because they are.

The Further Adventures Of Gilda And Meek: The Terran Wars: #2 Chapter Eight: "Trapped In Piranhala"

What do I tell the Dreamwidth Faithful?

Well, BlogSpot is getting nothing out of me until it hits (its Coming Soon Blurb will give away nothing) but I'll give the Dreamwidth Faithful TWO things.

I always believed that all four Gilda And Meek issues in The Terran Wars would rank with the best Gilda And Meek issues of all time. All four are in the top ten of best issues ever, and I am guessing one or two are top five. I added SO much stuff to this one. And it's even richer than I envisioned. I planned for this to be one of the greatest Gilda And Meek issues of all time. And it far surpassed my expectations..

C'Mon, Matt, give me ONE story point.

This single quote from Gilda during the issue will have to suffice:

"Ugh. Musical episodes. Kill me now."

--Gilda Thurman.

That's all I can give you. And if you ask me, that's plenty.
